1. PARTNERSHIP BENEFITS
There are many benefits to being involved in a Business/Education Partnership. Some of these are listed below.

  • Increased parent involvement
  • Better prepared future citizens
2.  PARTNERSHIP SCOPE

  • Partnerships can involve either one or more schools or span the entire District, depending on the goals and resources of the parties.
  • It is up to the businesses, parents, & community groups to decide on the level of commitment they can reasonably make to the program. Any level of participation in the program is welcome, regardless of the extent.
3. PARTNERSHIP ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  Partnership activities can be initiated in a variety of ways by any of the participants, depending on the type of activity.

To become involved in the program, each participant must review the program, decide how they want to become involved, sign up with the Executive Council, and then follow up, as described below:

3.1  Teacher Roles & Responsibilities

  3.1.1   If a teacher would like to have a guest speaker come to their class to discuss a particular subject, the teacher should:
  • Select an appropriate topic for a guest speaker, based on their class curriculum
  • Review the Partnership Speaker List to find a volunteer in their area of study
  • Contact the speaker and invite them to participate
  • Provide the speaker with a description of the topic to be covered, the date, time, place, and the duration
3.1.2   If a teacher would like to arrange a workplace visit with a business, the teacher should:
  • Select an appropriate topic for the workplace visit, based on their class curriculum
  • Review the Partnerships to find a business involved in the topic of study
  • Contact the business and ask them if they would like to participate
  • Provide the business with a description of the purpose of the visit, the date, time, duration, and number and level of students who will likely attend
3.1.3   If a teacher would like to arrange an on-going in-class program, the teacher should:
  • Select an appropriate topic for the on-going in-class program, based on their class curriculum
  • Review the Partnerships to find a business involved in the topic of study
  • Contact the business and ask them if they would like to participate
  • Provide the business with a description of the purpose of the on-going in-class program, the date, time, duration, and number and level of students who will likely attend


3.2:  Business, Parent, & Community Member Roles & Responsibilities

  3.2.1   If a business or a community group would like to participate in the Partnership program, they should:
  • Designate a contact person within their group to coordinate the activities
  • Select one or more pre-defined curriculum areas, based on their particular interest or expertise
  • Select one or more speakers and topics within the selected curriculum area(s) based their particular interest or expertise
  • Select one or more ideas for on-going, in-class programs within the selected curriculum area(s)
  • Select one or more ideas for a workplace program, within the selected curriculum area(s)
  • Sign up as a potential participant in the Partnership program, identifying area(s) of possible participation
3.2.2   If a parents would like to participate in the Partnership program, they should:
  • Select one or more pre-defined curriculum areas, based on their particular interest or expertise Select one or more topics to speak on within the selected curriculum area(s)
  • Select one or more topics to speak on within the selected curriculum area(s)
  • Select one or more ideas for on-going, in-class programs within the selected curriculum area(s)
  • Select one or more ideas for a workplace program, within the selected curriculum area(s)
  • Sign up as a potential participant in the Partnership program, identifying area(s) of possible participation
